I don’t understand why there is only room for one representative voice for atheism and it has to be a white, straight cis-male.  I’m an atheist and a feminist and I don’t understand the hostility from some white male atheists that borders on MRA-territory. 

Cuz apparently one cause is more important than the other when in fact, they’re intrinsically linked :/

Reason number 876 why I stay away from all atheist circles.

Feminzation of masculine spaces (the process of making them ‘safe’ for women and women’s discussions) drives men away from those spaces. 
so they resent the hell out of it.
 and why the hell shouldn’t they? Are women required to open their spaces to men? and isn’t there a hella lot of resentment when a man ‘invades’ that space?

Men don’t need safe spaces. The general public is their “safe space!” Every single “public” space caters to and coddles men (more specifically cis, white men).

Women need safe spaces because every time we step into men’s spaces we run the risk of suffering from ridicule and harassment. The image above and your bullshit ass comment is a perfect representation of that. Women need safe spaces because we need a place where we can discuss matters that pertain to and affect us. The mainstream “new atheist” movement has made it quite obvious they have no intention of taking matters like sexism seriously.

The reason there’s resentment when men invade women’s safe spaces is because THAT SPACE IS NOT FOR YOU! We don’t need y’all jumping up into our spaces making every fucking thing about y’all! We don’t want your opinions and we damn sure don’t want your presence! If we want you there, we’ll ask you to show up. Other than that, simply stay the fuck away.

Why, dear sweet baby Jesus in a god damn manger, WHY would y’all even feel the fucking need to step foot in a woman’s space anyway? Every other space out there is tailor made for white cis men, so why the fuck do you wanna be all up in our shit?

You want a safe space for men? Go back to your circle jerk ass conferences and websites. Let us have our space where we can discuss shit that’s relevant to us. Everything ain’t for y’all! Get the fuck over it and stop acting so damn entitled to everything.

You know what I see in this image? A claim that women who are feminists cannot be good scientists. (News flash, asshole, Richard Dawkins is political, too. Having a vagina and caring about politics does not make one not “dedicated…to scientific understanding.”) I see a claim that one cannot care about atheism, scientific understanding, and social justice at the same time. I see a claim that women who want to feel safe are just being ridiculous. I see a claim that women who speak in public are attention-seeking, while men who speak more in public are “dedicated.” In other words, the only way this image would make sense to you is if you already think that women are bad as science, hysterical, and attention-seeking. In which case, you’ve already missed the point by a mile. Also, you’re a douchebag.
